Montana's Ultra Marathon Challenge consists of three trail running races that take you through the lesser known yet spectacular Tobacco Root mountain range. The Tobacco Roots are 60 miles west of Bozeman, Mt, and 90 miles northwest of Yellowstone National Park. All races begin and end in the historic ghost mining town of Pony, on the Eastern flanks of the range. 2016 marks the 4th running of Montana's Ultra Challenge (formerly called the Mystery Ranch Ultra Challenge).
50k Endurance Run and Fool's Gold 50 Miler: Both races start on Saturday, August 20, and have a 14 hour time limit (16 hours with early start). The Fool's Gold 50M is a 2 POINT qualifier for UTMB.
Ghosts of Yellowstone 100 Miler: Starts on Saturday, August 20, and has a 38 hour time limit. It is a 4 POINT qualifier for UTMB.
All races traverse the northern part of the Tobacco Roots, with plenty of opportunities for wildlife, stunning views, rugged backcountry trails, and extreme elevation changes.
